kindergarten and kindergarten program enables children to participate
in authentic festivals and celebrations, all-day field trips,
and Lower School special assemblies. Additional special classes
for kindergarten include science and art. Parents of junior kindergarten

Language Arts for Four & Five Year Olds
The communication skills of listening, speaking, early reading,
and writing are taught as a whole within a meaningful context.
Young children dictate their personal experiences and stories
to the teacher. Repeated reading of their own words lays the foundation
for strong language arts skills. Letter and sound recognition
is taught through a multisensory approach, which incorporates
a variety of engaging games. The use of daily journals enables
children and parents to observe growth in the writing of phonically
spelled stories. Correct formation of letters is taught through the Handwriting Without Tears program. Small group discussion and problem-solving opportunities
promote each child's ability to speak, to listen, and to think.
Daily stories enhance the language rich environment and foster
an appreciation of literature.
Mathematics for Early Learners
Number concepts and problem-solving skills are taught through
guided use of manipulatives. Patterning, counting, graphing,
measuring, and comparing are explored through activities
which encourage children to apply what they have learned to real-life
situations.
