Valuable learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom
are at the heart of the Middle School program. Extended trips
provide opportunities to gain knowledge of subject matter, while
serving to reinforce class unity. To supplement their study of
Colonial America, the fifth graders spend several days in Williamsburg,
Jamestown, Yorktown, and Charlottesville. The sixth grade travels
to Cape Cod to study Oceanography in direct correlation with their
science curriculum. The seventh grade travels to Vermont for a week long outward-bound type experience highlighted by team building, high ropes courses, individual and team challenges. The eighth grade travels to Washington, D.C., to reinforce
their study of American History and Science. Sixth- eighth grade
students and teachers experience annual weeklong adventures designed
to build self-confidence and teamwork, as well as to support curriculum
study.
