Upper School Graduation Requirements

Graduation from Sanford School requires successful completion of 20 units (21 units beginning with the class of 2011). A unit is the equivalent of a full year of study in a course. Trimester courses are worth 1/3 of a unit.

English 4 Units
Mathematics 3 Units
Social Studies 3 Units (one must be American History)
Laboratory Science 3 Units (biology, chemistry, physics)
World Languages 2 Units (of the same language).  Beginning with the class of 2011, the requirement will be 3 units.
Electives 5 Units (including Computers, Art, Music, Health, Research Paper Writing)
Computers 1/3 Unit
Art 1/3 Unit
Music 1/3 Unit
Health 1/3 Unit
Research Paper Writing 1/3 Unit (in grade 10)
