Sanford School is committed to providing comprehensive training
and support to effectively build a technologically rich environment.
The technology infrastructure allows for high-speed access to
resources and information on-campus and beyond. Our fiber-optic
network connects all academic areas using state-of-the-art equipment.
All classrooms have Internet and network access, along with labs
in every division for student work. In addition, Lower and
Middle
school classrooms are equipped with multimedia televisions
and closed circuit TV broadcast facilities.
Upper School areas
include
on-line network workstations in the writing lab, art lab,
History lab, duPont Library, computer lab, and science labs.
As a beta
test site for several companies, including Sun Microsystems,
Sanford School offers students the opportunity to work on
both Solaris and Microsoft products. While facilities vary by
department
and division, all allow teachers and students access to robust
technology-based educational resources.
Currently, our use of technology in the classroom includes graphing
calculators, smart screens, spreadsheets and databases, student
publications, digital photography, multimedia presentations,
and Internet access. In our ever changing world, efficient
use of technology remains paramount. Our integrated curriculum
enables Sanford students to explore technology as a research
method and as a tool for enrichment.
