1. Parent Visit
All Grades
An important first step in exploring with us whether Sanford is the right school for your child is the parent visit, which gives you an opportunity to get to know Sanford more intimately and gives us an opportunity to learn more about your child and about your hopes and expectations. Please contact the Admission Office to set up a convenient time to visit.
2. Application for Admission and Parent Statement (and Student Questionnaire)
All Grades
Parents should complete both the Application for Admission and the Parent Statement and submit them to the Admission Office, along with a $40 application fee.
Grade Nine through Grade Twelve
Applicants to Grade Nine through Grade Twelve should also complete the Student Questionnaire.
3. Transcript Release and School Official Report
All Grades
Parents should sign and submit the Transcript Release and School Official Report to their child’s current school after November 1st.
4. Teacher Recomendations
Junior Kindergarten through Grade One
Applicants to Junior Kindergarten through Grade One should request that their teacher complete and submit a Confidential Common Recommendation Form for Applicants to GRADES PreK–1.
Grade Two through Grade Five
Applicants to Grade Two through Grade Five should request that their teacher complete and submit a Confidential Common Recommendation Form for Applicants to GRADES 2-8.
Grade Six through Grade Twelve
Applicants to Grade Six through Grade Twelve should request that their English and math teachers each complete and submit a Confidential Common Recommendation Form for Applicants to GRADES 6–12.
NOTE: Sanford uses the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS) Confidential Common Recommendation Forms. If you are applying to additional ADVIS member schools, teachers need only complete one Common Recommendation Form and submit a copy of that form to each of the schools to which you are applying. Please provide each teacher with a stamped envelope addressed to the Sanford Admission Office.
5. Student Visit
Junior Kindergarten through Grade One
Applicants to Junior Kindergarten through Grade One will be invited to attend a two-hour playgroup screening, once the Admission Office has received their Application for Admission and Parent Statement.
Grade Two through Grade Twelve
Applicants to Grade Two through Grade Twelve, with the exception of those applying to Grade Nine, spend the entire school day at Sanford with a carefully selected student buddy in their current grade level. Applicants to Grade Nine will be paired with a current Grade Nine student.
6. Screening/Testing
Junior Kindergarten through Grade One
Applicants to Junior Kindergarten through Grade One participate in a screening process during their playgroup visit to Sanford.
Grade Two through Grade Five
Applicants to Grade Two through Grade Five will complete age appropriate reading, writing and math assessments during their full day visit to Sanford.
Grade Six through Grade Twelve
Applicants to grades 6 - 12 should register to take the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) CTP 4 test by completing the Admission Test Registration Form and returning it, along with a check for $25, to the school administering the test on the selected date. To be considered in the first round of admission decisions and receive notification at the end of January, applicants should register for the December or January test date. Applicants who have taken an ERB CTP 4 or SSAT within the last academic year may not need to register for the testing.
