Financial Aid Process
APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID
for the 2011-2012 academic year
To be eligible for consideration for financial aid in the first round of awards, you must submit your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and all required documents by Friday, December 17, 2010. We will communicate decisions about financial aid when you receive an Enrollment Agreement. Financial aid applications completed after this date will be considered on a rolling basis depending on the availability of funds. Please note that failure to provide all of the requested information, meet deadlines, and communicate with the Admission Office may delay consideration of your application and even jeopardize your chance to receive aid.
TO COMPLETE THE PARENTS’ FINANCIAL STATEMENT (PFS) ONLINE
(If you are unable to complete a PFS online, please request a printed version from the Admission Office.)
- Starting on November 1, 2010, go to http://sss.nais.org/parents.
- Click on the “Apply Now” button. Sanford’s School Code is 7096.
- You will set up a PFS Online account using your e-mail address and a password, which will allow you to return to work on your PFS again before submitting it. If you completed an online PFS application last year, use your e-mail address and existing password. If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgot my password.”
- Submit and pay for the PFS ($35). This fee is nonrefundable.
- Print out the Required Documents Cover Sheet to use when sending in the additional documents we require. Your submission confirmation page will link to a Required Documents Cover Sheet that is pre-populated with your information. Or to access your cover sheet any time, log into PFS Online and click on “Print Cover Sheet.”
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTION TO BE SENT TO SSS
You are required to submit to SSS by mail or online the following documents in addition to your completed PFS:
- 2010 IRS Form 1040, including all schedules and W-2’s
- IRS Form 4506-T (signed, BUT NOT DATED)
- 2010 Business/Farm Statement (if you own your own business)
To submit these documents by mail, send one copy (not the original) of each document with a Required Documents Cover Sheet to:

- Do not fold or paper clip documents.
- Enclose with the Required Documents Cover Sheet in a large envelope.
- Mail any documents 10 days in advance of our deadline to allow for mail delivery and for SSS’s processing time.

To submit these documents online at http://sss.nais.org/parents after you complete your PFS, follow the instructions for how to upload documents.
You do not need to send any part of the Financial Aid application or documentation to Sanford School.
