| Few investments are as valuable as the one you make in your child’s education, especially if it’s a Sanford education. Tuition covers a large portion of the costs associated with providing such a rich experience as the one your child will enjoy at Sanford, but it does not cover them all; annual giving, endowment income, and foundation gifts cover the balance. Sanford offers several payment plan options (one payment; two-thirds/one-third; 10-month & 12-month) and a loan program to meet families’ cash flow needs. All tuition payment plans are managed by Key Education Resources. In addition, Sanford has a generous need-based financial aid program to support its efforts to develop a student community that is representative of the cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of our surrounding communities and to make the School accessible to as many enrolled and admitted students as possible, regardless of their families’ ability to pay the full tuition.
Families interested in exploring ways to fit independent school tuition into college and retirement planning will want to read Bridging the Gap: Strategies for Affording Independent School Education, published by the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS). You may now download the publication online.
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid funds are allocated in January for the following school year, so applicants who will be applying for financial aid should complete both the admission process and the financial aid application process by late fall to have the best chance of receiving financial aid. All required financial aid information should be submitted by December 14, 2007. Financial aid applications completed after this date will be considered on a rolling basis as funding allows.
Should you conclude that you will require financial aid to make it possible for your child to attend Sanford, please submit an Application for Financial Aid to the Admission Office as soon as possible. To complete the financial aid application process, you will then be asked to submit a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and a copy of your most recent federal tax return.
Please note that Sanford is able to award only small amounts of financial aid to Lower School students and that Sanford does not award academic or athletic merit scholarships.
The financial aid application process is a separate process from the admission process, and admission decisions are made without regard to a family’s financial need. Financial aid decisions are made only after a student has been admitted.
