Affording the Quality of a Sanford Education
Few investments are as valuable as the one you make in your child’s education. Sanford’s tuition covers a large portion of the costs associated with providing a rich learning experience for your child, but it does not cover them all. Annual giving, endowment income, and foundation gifts cover the balance.
Sanford offers several payment plan options, managed by Tuition Management Systems, to meet families’ needs:
- single payment
- two-thirds/one-third payments
- monthly payments (10- and 12-month plans)
- Achiever Loan program
Families interested in exploring ways to fit independent school tuition into college and retirement planning will want to read Bridging the Gap: Strategies for Affording Independent School Education, published by the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS).
Please contact the Admission Office for current tuition and fees.

FINANCIAL AID
Sanford has a generous need-based financial aid program to support its commitment to making the School accessible to as many families as possible, regardless of their ability to pay the full tuition, and to developing a student community that is representative of the cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of our community.
For 2008-2009, Sanford awarded approximately $1.4 million to nearly one-fourth of our student body.
Sanford does not award academic or athletic merit scholarships. Financial aid awards are based on demonstrated financial need. Families currently receiving aid must re-apply each year.
Sanford begins making financial aid awards in January for the 2009-2010 school year, so applicants for financial aid should submit all required information by December 12, 2008. Financial aid applications completed after this date will be considered on a rolling basis as funds allow.
The financial aid application process is separate from the admission process, and admission decisions are made without regard to a family’s financial need. Financial aid decisions are made only after a student has been admitted.
To begin the process, submit an Application for Financial Aid to the Admission Office as soon as possible.
We want to make the process of applying for financial aid as easy as possible. Please direct any questions to Andrew Walpole, Director of Admission and Financial Aid, at (302) 239-5263, Ext. 224 or walpolea@sanfordschool.org.
