Introduction
Dear Members of the Sanford Community,
Why give to Sanford? Our school benefits every day from gifts of time, talent and treasure made possible by its students, parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees and friends.
Giving at Sanford comes in many forms: Students who give a smile in the hallway or a helping hand in the lunch line or on a service project on Martin Luther King Day; Families who participate in a bake sale or toy drive or at the book fair. Mothers, fathers and other family members who serve as room parents, Home & School representatives, Auction volunteers, field trip chaperones; Faculty who spend extra time with students and who enhance the classroom experience with learning opportunities that go above and beyond the regular course of a day; Trustees who spend evenings and early mornings at meetings that help them govern the school; Alumni who return to share their experience after Sanford with current students or volunteer to organize a reunion or a Homecoming event.
Giving is woven through the very fabric of our school.
Giving of ourselves includes sharing of our treasure, as well. As parents, we give to affirm the decision we made to educate our students in a fine independent school; as faculty we all give because we value the opportunity to be part of this school and we believe passionately in its mission; as alumni we give out of appreciation for the education we received and the energetic caring of faculty who prepared us for the future; and as friends we give out of understanding the impact that Sanford School ahs on its students and its community.
There are many avenues for giving to Sanford. Our Annual Report primarily recognizes the support we receive for the Annual Fund, which is the foundation for philanthropy at Sanford. However, we also acknowledge capital gifts, for building projects, resources to increase our endowment, goods and services to enhance our programs, matching gifts from generous companies and corporations, planned gifts who are insuring their value for perpetuity through the development of estate plans and wills, and restricted gifts that provide, among other things, need-based financial aid for our students.
In whatever manner you are able to give to Sanford, I assure your generosity of spirit and resources will make a difference. Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Chip MacKelcan
Head of School
