Juniors Caroline Cook and Ryan Friedman Honored as DYLN Scholars
Sanford juniors Caroline Cook and Ryan Friedman were recently recognized at the graduation ceremony of the Delaware Youth Leadership Network.
The DYLN program offers accepted high school juniors a program of workshops, activities, motivational speakers, and mentoring opportunities that aims to prepare students of Delaware to become leaders of tomorrow.
At the ceremony on April 30th, Caroline, Ryan, and their fellow graduates listened to a keynote speech by Dr. Karissa Thacker, author of The Art of Authenticity. Dr. Thacker advised her audience to focus on creating a “to be” list, not a “to do” list, at this point in their lives.
Last year, Caroline and Ryan were selected to be DYLN scholars after a rigorous application process and interview. They then met once a month with the other scholars to interact with distinguished DYLN Mentors who have excelled in their fields. The year focused on helping students develop leadership skills and start to think about professional aspirations for college and beyond.
