On January 11th, eighth grader Taryn Jenkins received her Silver award as a Cadette Scout.
The Silver award is the Girl Scouting program's highest award for this age group.
Taryn's group project action plan, titled Readers for Life—Sharing the Love for Books, focused on fighting illiteracy. The project involved reading to 3 to 5-year-old children, setting up reading corners, and hosting book drives for two community daycare facilities.
Congratulations to Taryn and the students and organizations that benefited from her efforts.
