Sanford Sophomores Attend HOBY State Leadership Seminar

From June 6th to June 8th, Sanford sophomores Justin McLellan and Max Curschmann stayed at Wesley College in Dover to take part in the annual HOBY State Leadership Seminar for Delaware.
The Leadership Seminar is “designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community,” according to HOBY.

Justin and Max had the opportunity to meet Delaware leaders from various organizations and industries, interact with other student leaders, or “ambassadors,” and “explore their own personal leadership skills.” The seminar explores three kinds of leadership: personal, group, and “leadership for society.”

HOBY, which stands for “Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership,” was founded by the actor Hugh O’Brien in 1958 in order to inspire a “global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.” The programs include the State Seminars and a “World Leadership Congress” with ambassadors from across the globe. To date, HOBY boasts more than 375,000 alumni worldwide.

Congratulations to Justin and Max on their accomplishment!
