Thanks to a $1 million gift from the family of Sanford School Trustee Emeritus Sharon Struthers and the generosity of the school community, the Sanford Sports Center will be renovated in 2020.
The Struthers’ donation, which is the largest individual gift in the school's history, was accompanied by a challenge for Sanford to raise an additional $1 million. In January of 2020, the school reached the $1 million challenge goal and began developing plans for the creation of the Struthers Family Sports Center.
The Struthers Family Sports Center will provide:
• Best-in-class athletic equipment and amenities
• State-of-the-art health, training, and wellness facilities
• A comfortable, climate-controlled environment
• A welcoming, well-designed exterior and entryway
• 21st-century teaching and learning spaces.
Although work has begun on the Struthers Family Sports Center, additional funds are needed to create an exceptional facility for our students, teachers, parents, alumni, community, and friends.
The Sports Center is one of the few buildings on campus utilized by all Sanford students—from our youngest three-year-old Warriors to our seniors. In the Sports Center, children learn, grow, and compete under the leadership of amazing teachers and talented coaches—and it's a place where lifelong friendships are created.
In many instances, the Sports Center represents Sanford School to the greater community by welcoming colleague school teams, parents, and outside events. Our 30-year-old facility, which no longer meets the needs of our community, can be transformed into an outstanding teaching, learning, and gathering space that matches the caliber of our people and programs.
Help us to create a Sports Center that reflects Sanford’s commitment to excellence!
