Graber Stinson and Williams Hired to College Counseling Team

Heather Graber Stinson and Pete Williams will be Sanford School's next College Counseling team beginning in the 2023-2024 school year.
Heather Graber Stinson is joining Sanford as the Director of College Counseling. Since 2012, Heather has been at the Haverford School in Haverford, Pennsylvania, where she is the Senior Associate Director of College Counseling. A native of Kansas City, Heather attended an independent school for 12 years and is a proud graduate of Kenyon College, where she studied psychology and anthropology.

Before becoming a college counselor, Heather worked in admissions at St. Lawrence University, Colgate University, and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Beyond working as a college counselor at Haverford, she's also enjoyed many roles, including serving as an advisor, leading students on international trips, advising the Mindfulness Club, and teaching the occasional yoga class to students and faculty.

Heather holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rosemont College and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. In addition, she is a Registered Yoga Teacher, SCUBA diver, baking enthusiast, and regular traveler. She lives in Havertown, Pennsylvania, with her husband, a college soccer coach, and their 12 year old son.

Pete Williams has served as an Upper School English faculty member at Sanford since 2013. Pete has had a chance to work with nearly every student that has come through the Upper School, most often through his freshman English classes but also in courses he has taught to juniors and seniors. In addition to his role in the English department, Pete has served as the Faculty Co-Chair for the Honor Council and as a member of both the Upper School Admissions Committee and the Sanford Scholarship Committee.

Prior to Sanford, Pete was a member of the English department at the Kildonan School, a boarding school in Amenia, New York. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English and Music from St. Lawrence University. He is also a proud Sanford parent to Prue Williams '37, with another future Sanford Warrior on the way!

We look forward to welcoming Heather to Sanford in July. We believe Heather and Pete will form a dynamic new duo; until then, our College Counseling department will continue to thrive under the leadership of Casey Zimmer and Nathania Francois. We wish Casey and Nathania the best as they move on to new positions at Pine Crest School and Vassar College, respectively.
