Sanford Seniors Receive National Merit Honors

Two members of the Class of 2021 are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Jordan Nashed (top) and Milo Watson (bottom) have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them among the top five percent of students who entered the competition.
Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

Sanford Head of Upper School Abbi Smith shared: "We are so proud of Milo and Jordan's recognition by the NMSC. These two students possess exceptional work ethics, a desire to engage in learning, and a commitment to always doing their best. While this achievement speaks to their academic success, we are grateful for all the ways in which they add to our community. Congratulations Jordan and Milo—well deserved!"

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC's goals of honoring the nation's scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
