Our Families Share Their Thoughts About Sanford

For the past several years, Sanford has conducted an online parent satisfaction survey. Feedback from our families serves as a barometer for measuring the delivery of our program. In addition, the data helps school leaders identify trends and develop strategies for the future.
In the spring of 2020, we decided to forgo the annual survey in the midst of the difficulty surrounding the pandemic. Although 2021 was an atypical year, we brought the survey back because we needed a temperature check (pun very much intended!) on how we navigated this crisis.

I’m incredibly proud to say the results of our 2021 parent satisfaction survey were very positive. Here are a few highlights:
  • 92% of Sanford parents reported being very satisfied or satisfied.
    • 71% very satisfied
    • 21% satisfied
  • 100% of new Sanford families responded that they were very satisfied or satisfied.
    • 79% very satisfied
    • 21% satisfied
  • 96% of Sanford families shared that they were very satisfied or satisfied with our COVID preparedness and response.
    • 84% very satisfied
    • 12% satisfied
As a leader, those numbers mean a great deal to me. They tell me that our families recognize just how hard our faculty and staff worked through the 2020–21 school year to keep our students healthy, engaged, and learning. Our people made it happen at Sanford.

Lest you think I’m a Pollyanna, the comment section of the 2021 survey provided plenty of constructive criticism and food for thought. Some respondents shared that:
  • Our COVID protocols were too strict.
  • More stringent COVID protocols should have been in place.
  • We could have done a better job of ensuring that virtual learners received the full Sanford experience.
  • The school placed too much focus on political and social justice issues.
If you would like to review quantitative highlights from the research, check out 2021 Survey Data.

Make no mistake—2020–21 was difficult for everyone. Students, teachers, parents, and administrators deeply felt the burden COVID-19 placed on our school community. While the school year wasn’t the same as school years we have known, it was still an unqualified success in so many ways.

For the new families who report 100% satisfaction with Sanford thus far—just wait; you haven’t seen anything yet.

To all of our Sanford parents, we are only going to rise from here. As we look to return to some level of normalcy, Sanford is poised to deliver excellence for our students and families this coming year.
