You're Invited to Visit Our Campus

Although we have not returned to pre-pandemic guest attendance for all school events, I am thrilled to invite you to come to Sanford to watch an athletic event, experience the magic of SRTC’s Cinderella, or enjoy the outdoors during a campus walk or sledding adventure. Since the beginning of the school year, we have responded to changing conditions with initiatives designed to prevent the spread of COVID. Those measures included limiting spectators at athletic competitions and guests for school events. We understand that one of our school’s greatest attributes is a strong community that encourages connectedness and participating in Sanford experiences. Fortunately, because of declining COVID cases in Delaware and continued vigilance in following our health and safety protocols, we are gradually and confidently opening our events to more visitors.
What else has changed since the start of the pandemic?

New faculty, staff, students, families, and coaches have joined our community. These Warriors have brought immense talent to our school, and we are grateful for their countless contributions. With several pending retirements and colleagues beginning new journeys, we are preparing to welcome additional faculty and staff members for the 2022–2023 school year. A few folks who came on board after this school year began are Margaret Ingram, our new Associate Director of Business & Operations; Patrick Jones, our Athletic Director-Elect; and Christopher Pyle, who has joined our Building and Grounds team. We’ll be sharing more staffing information later this year.

Facility improvements have been completed, and some are just getting started. We recently revamped Kidder Hall with a new Upper School classroom that also serves as a base of operations for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director Jamy Haughey as she leads our DEI program. Another Sanford building, Hebb Hall, is getting a facelift. Last year, Nancy and Mike Pia gave the school a generous gift to modernize this historic Sanford facility. We will open the revitalized Hebb Hall with the Pia Creativity Lab in time for the start of the 2022–2023 school year.

Our Summer Enrichment program has grown dramatically—in course offerings and student attendance. Under the leadership of Summer Programs Director Christine DiUbaldo, families of prekindergarten through twelfth-grade students can select from a wide array of academic, enrichment, and athletic programs available during the summer months. Spread the word about the program, which is open to Sanford and non-Sanford students. This Sanford summer offering has gained tremendous popularity; in fact, several classes are already full. To learn more, visit Summer Enrichment.

Regardless of how our programs, activities, facilities, and staff change—our commitment to helping students discover their talents and stay true to who they are remains constant. Throughout the past decade, I’ve seen our students develop a love of knowledge, pursue their passions, and maintain their sense of identity. Even when faced with a pandemic, our faculty, staff, and families have worked hard to celebrate the heart and strength of the Warrior community. At the end of the day, their dedication and effort have preserved and protected the Sanford experience for our students. I hope you can visit us this year and be a part of the Sanford spirit that makes our school extraordinary.
