Coach Gibson '15 establishes Outdoor Track & Field Program for Upper School Athletes

Sanford School is excited to announce the launch of its new varsity outdoor track and field program, led by Coach Gavin Gibson '15. Building on the school's cross country and indoor track achievements, this endeavor aims to provide students with even more opportunities to excel in athletics.
The addition of an outdoor track and field program will further enhance Sanford's commitment to promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and individual growth, where "No Talent Lies Latent."

Coach Gibson explains, "Outdoor [track] at Sanford started as a personal high school aspiration. At that time, my track and field experience was exclusive to the cold winter season. When I became a head coach, I simply wanted to create more opportunities for the Sanford athletes I coached in cross country and indoor track and invite new athletes into my program for some off-season conditioning. In these critical years of development, I'm glad that Sanford students can finally enjoy the many facets of track and field training and culture."

The student-athletes are eager to lace up their running shoes and embrace the challenges and exhilaration of competing in outdoor track and field.

Please enjoy a student-produced video by Jack Lazarski '23 about the inaugural season of Outdoor Track at Sanford School.
