Campus Improvements Create Better Facilities for Sanford Community

This summer was a busy one at Sanford—and when the 2017–2018 school year began, community members and visitors were welcomed with new and improved facilities.
As Head of School Mark Anderson commented, “We were excited to welcome all of our Warriors back to campus. I think students and teachers were excited with the many changes on campus. Most noticeable was the renovated weight room and mezzanine in the Sports Center, an expanded computer lab in the Upper School, and a new college counseling center in the newly renovated Quigley Hall.”

The college counseling center completed its move from Stephen May to the lower level of the newly renovated Quigley Hall building. Read about the details of this move and about its effect on Sanford’s college counseling program in this previously posted story.

The Upper School’s computer lab, previously located on the third floor of Stephen May Hall, was converted into a new Spanish classroom. Sanford's high schoolers will now find an expanded computer lab on the lowest level of Stephen May along with new Macs and PCs. The details of the new computer lab and the role it will play in our students' learning experiences' can be found in this article.

These summer changes are only a few examples of a larger trend of improvement and evolution that Sanford exhibits year after year. To this point, Anderson said, “Over the past five years, Sanford's campus has experienced a renaissance of sorts, as we have made improvements to several buildings: Sanford Hall, Pirnie Hall, the Upper School Library, Extended Day, Geipel Center, Dining Hall and Warrior Café, and the spaces that will be in new in 2017. We are grateful to our supporters who have made these projects possible. Our Sanford community has rallied time and again to help us polish our spaces and buildings—and as a result, the Sanford campus now shines like the gem that it is. Most importantly, our Sanford students and teachers have the very best possible places to learn, practice, and play."
