“Yearbook Squad” wins Gettysburg Excellence Award

The Upper School yearbook team took home the prestigious top award in the advanced track at the Jostens Yearbook Camp, held at Gettysburg College from July 31–August 1 this year.
The Gettysburg Excellence Award honored the team for the best overall concept, planning, and design of their yearbook. Editor-in-chief Santina DeMaio led the Sanford contingent of Lily Weisnegger, Alex Burger, Nicole Brophy, and Owen Goodier; they were also accompanied by their advisors Meg Fierro and Stacey Hendrix.

The students began the workshop by responding to the Josten’s challenge to create an Instagram page: you can follow them there @sanfordyearbooksquad. They spent the next few intense days refining and expanding their conceptualization of this year’s yearbook, which they have been working on since March.

“Stacey and I are very proud of the work ethic, composure, and confidence demonstrated by the students,” said advisor Meg Fierro. “According to our local rep, this is the first time that he can recall that any of the schools in our division have merited this prestigious recognition.”

Stacey Hendrix echoed Meg’s praise and added, “I appreciate the opportunity to join them and work alongside a fearless, capable and fun leader. Meg is a wonderful mentor and the Sanford Yearbook Squad is a dream team.”

Congratulations to the students and good luck with your work over the upcoming year!
