Middle School Student Wins National Art Award

Congratulations to eighth-grade student Alexis Winner for earning a National Silver Medal in this year’s Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.
Alexis created a mixed media collage entitled “Online 24/7 356,” which was first recognized with a Gold Key award at the regional level before advancing to national level judging. This talented young artist’s work is currently on display on campus in Stephen May Hall.

The nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers has worked since 1923 with Scholastic to sponsor this annual competition for students in grades 7 through 12. The goals are to foster creativity, to identify students with remarkable talents, and to share student work publicly. This year, more than 350,00 art and writing entries were submitted in 29 different categories.

Alexis’s work clearly stood out from all of these entries, and we wish her further success as she continues to explore and develop her artistic talents.
