SanfordConnected: Our Virtual Education Program

Mark Anderson, Head of School

When the COVID-19 pandemic required us to transition to remote learning, our primary goal was to continue delivering an outstanding education to our students even though they couldn't be on campus. We were also focused on ensuring that our community connections stayed strong. Although remote learning is often called distance learning, we believe that connections form the foundation for education. To that end, we created SanfordConnected.

Sanford's Response To Continue Teaching & Learning

The Sanford campus reopened in the fall of 2020 following five months of closure due to the pandemic. Currently offering families a choice of in-person instruction and remote learning, Sanford is prepared for whatever the future brings. If you would like to learn more about Sanford's response to the pandemic and the creation of SanfordConnected, check out our videos, our distance learning plan, and our COVID-19 Information, Updates, and Resources web page.

Distance Learning Tips

Our Distance Learning Plan

Distance Learning Overview

Whether students experience our vibrant community on campus or from home, our goals for them are the same: to prepare them for success in a changing future, challenge them to learn and grow, and ensure they feel deeply connected—to their academics, to their teachers, and to their community.

Lower School Distance Learning

Sanford Lower School’s meaningful distance learning program provides a structured routine, creative content, and the familiar, nurturing faces our youngest students count on. That means they feel secure, continue to learn and grow, receive individual teacher support and guidance, and remain connected as a community.

Middle School Distance Learning

Combining substantive at-home learning experiences with opportunities for students to interact with teachers and peers online, Sanford Middle School stretches students’ skills and talents and keeps them challenged and connected.

Upper School Distance Learning

Sanford’s Upper School remains a place where students both experience and prepare for new opportunities with purposeful, at-home learning experiences that help them stay focused, engaged, and self motivated, all within a structure that keeps our tight-knit community connected.
