Senior Kelsey Mendell Commits to Play Field Hockey for Providence

Last Wednesday, November 12th, senior Kelsey Mendell committed to play field hockey next year at Providence College in Rhode Island.
Kelsey signed her National Letter of Intent at the Sanford Sports Center, as her family, teammates, and faculty looked on.

A midfielder and captain of the 2014 field hockey team, Kelsey was named to First Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State at the conclusion of this season. On November 16th, she represented Sanford in the annual Senior All-Star field hockey game.

Kelsey is looking forward to continuing her field hockey career at Providence, a Division I NCAA program and member of the Big East Conference. The team, nicknamed the “Friars” in order of the Dominican order that runs the school, is coached by former Olympic field hockey player Diane Madl.

The National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student and an NLI member university, committing the student to attend and play at the institution of choice for at least one year. Kelsey signed her letter as part of an early agreement National Signing Day.
