Welcome to Warrior Nation! Daily physical activity has been an essential part of offering students a well-rounded, liberal arts experience since Sanford’s founding. We still believe that a strong athletic program that involves all students enhances the quality of their educations and instills skills and abilities that will last them a lifetime.
As a continuation of our JK–6 Physical Education
program, the Middle and Upper School Athletics program ensures that all 7th–12th-grade students participate in interscholastic, competitive athletics throughout the school year. We offer a variety of athletic opportunities that emphasize participation, challenge and motivate students to do their best, and possibly further their interests at the next level.
Our coaching philosophy stresses the fundamentals, tactics and strategies of the game, sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, and learning how to win and lose graciously. There are no cuts and everyone plays at a level that their ability permits. At the varsity level, winning takes on a greater focus and not everyone plays in every game. At all other levels, however, all eligible players should play in each game.
Sanford's coaches love the sports they coach and enjoy sharing their love of each sport with the young people who join the Warrior athletic teams. These men and women are also outstanding role models for our student-athletes.
Whether you are playing or watching a Sanford sporting event, enjoy the fun and challenge of interscholastic athletic competition! GO WARRIORS!!!
