Junior Lily Allingham Excels in Jeopardy! Teen Tournament

Sanford junior Lily Allingham recently appeared on Jeopardy! where she won more than $25,000 as a quarterfinal champion and tournament semifinalist.
Lily's Jeopardy! journey began last April when she traveled to Washington, DC to compete against 14 other students from around the country.

She qualified for the tournament by passing a rigorous set of tests and auditions. Teens interested in competing can take a timed online test which gives them fifteen seconds to type an answer to each question. Of those who pass, a random sample of about 300 are invited to audition in person in regional groups, where they take another timed test, participate in an interview, and play mock Jeopardy! games. From this group, the final fifteen—which included Lily—are selected.

While the shows in which Lily appeared were recorded last spring, the episodes aired Wednesday, November 9th and Wednesday, November 16th.

Congratulations to Lily for her significant Jeopardy! achievements and for living the Sanford motto, No Talent Lies Latent!
