Middle School Improvements

Wilson Hall and Town Hall are home to Sanford's Middle School. These buildings were dorms until the 1980s, when Sanford became exclusively a day school. The buildings were then joined together to form Sanford's Middle School, serving grades 5 to 8.

Campaign capital projects will improve the learning environment for our 183 middle school students and provide a new greenspace for learning and play.

We will create a 12,800 sq. foot greenspace in the 2025-26 school year by moving the water retention basin adjacent to the Middle School underground, providing a space for outdoor instruction and impromptu brain breaks in a non-built environment.

During the summer of 2025 we improved air filtration in the Middle School.

This work has led to:
  • improved air quality
  • less temperature fluctuations in classrooms
  • improved ability to hear lessons and concentrate during work and test times due to a significant reduction in ambient noise

Project Cost: $1 million
