Sanford Students Shine in Diva Dance Competition

The HAC School of Dance competed in the Diva Dance Competition, held in Wilmington, during the second weekend in April. Lower School students Summer Millard, a fourth grader, and Addison Manley, a third grader, are members of the HAC team. Millard‘s small group number, “Hovering over Indiana,” won the top overall champion award on Saturday, April 13, the first day of the competition, earning the highest score of any dance in any age category for the day. Additionally, the Coral dance team, which included Millard and Manley, received the overall high score in small group petites for the tap number “Dancin’ Fool.”
When asked about her experiences as a competitive dancer, Manley shared: “It is a really good privilege to be able to dance on a team. It was really fun and exciting to win an award!” Millard observed:” “What I like about dance is that you don’t have to keep it in, you can let it all out on stage.”

These talented young dancers have a competition in Virginia in early May, where they will surely continue to “let it all out on stage.” They will also spend a portion of their summer participating in the Starpower National dance competition, which will be held in Atlantic City in late June.

Congratulations to both of these young ladies for working so hard to honor the Sanford motto: No Talent Lies Latent. We celebrate their recent successes, and we wish Summer and Addison good luck in their upcoming dance competitions.
