Students Receive Art & Writing Honors in Scholastic Awards Competition

Sanford continued its longstanding success in the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. In this adjudicated contest, all submissions are entered into a blind evaluation process conducted by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for works that exemplify the awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
Twelve students received visual art awards for their work in the following categories: Digital Art, Drawing and Illustration, Fashion, Mixed Media, and Photography. The honorees are listed below.

All Gold Key award-winning work advances to the national level of the competition, where students will be eligible for additional scholarships, exhibition, and publication opportunities. National award winners will be announced in the spring.

From January 24th through February 12th, Gold Key winners' work will be exhibited at the Arts Center Gallery (ACG) at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. During the exhibition period, the ACG will be open to the general community during gallery hours. Special viewing opportunities and events will also be arranged, as Covid permits. The public will also have the opportunity to view award-winning work by viewing a pre-recorded video presentation scheduled to be released on February 12th.
