On Friday, March 7th, the Sanford girls basketball team captured the DIAA state title, defeating St. Elizabeth's by a score of 58 to 37.
The Lady Warriors success, at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center, was the hallmark of the winter season, with several other athletic programs showcasing success during the 2013–2014 school year. Some of the highlights include:
The boys basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the DIAA state tournament.
Two wrestlers, Luke McDonough and Brendan Lamey, finished second and third in the state championship.
Sanford crowned three champions and placed ten wrestlers in the top six at the Independent Conference Championship, and Sanford qualified for the Dual Team State Championship for a second consecutive year.
Members of our indoor track and swimming teams competed in the state tournament.
Congratulations to our student-athletes, their coaches, and our community for creating another exceptional athletic season at Sanford.
