Sanford Students Accepted to 2014 Governor’s School for Excellence
Four Sanford students have been accepted into the University of Delaware’s prestigious “Governor’s School for Excellence” summer program.
Ana Sarmousakis earned a spot in the Academic program; Rachel Rice will attend the program in Instrumental Music; and Sarah Boone and Samantha Isom will spend the week with the Choral Music group. All the students are rising juniors.
The Delaware Governor’s School for Excellence will take place this year from July 13–18. Students, who are nominated by their schools and selected in a competitive application process, will stay in UD residence halls for the week. Ana and her peers in the Academic program will attend “discussions, lectures, debates, and films revolving around a specific theme.” Rachel, Sarah, and Samantha, as participants in the Visual and Performing Arts program, will work with distinguished artists during the week, which will culminate in performances of the students’ work.
Delaware Governor's School for Excellence is sponsored by the Office of the Governor of the State of Delaware in cooperation with the Delaware Department of Education and the University of Delaware's Division of Professional and Continuing Studies.
