Rising Sanford junior Garrett Jester has been selected as a Delaware Youth Leadership Network Scholar in the Class of 2015.
Founded in 2012, DYLN selects Delaware students to participate in a nine-month mentoring and skill development program during their junior year of high school.
The group meets monthly, and scholars will have the opportunity to hear motivational speeches from community leaders in Delaware, dealing with such topics as leadership skills, networking, community service, entrepreneurship, technology, and citizenship. The students will also have the chance to hone their own public speaking and communication skills through group exercises. In addition, each scholar participates in a “mentoring component” as part of the program. Graduates of DYLN also have the opportunity to remain involved with the program during their senior year, as peer mentors.
Congratulations to Garrett, and we look forward to hearing more about his experiences in next year’s program!
