Sanford Students Showcase Their Talents in Honor Choir
On Saturday March 7th, sixteen Sanford middle schoolers joined their peers from across the state to perform in the Delaware Children’s Honor Choir, directed this year by world-renowned conductor Dr. Anthony Trecek-King.
The performance was the culmination of a considerable amount of hard work by the students, who spent time learning the music on their own and then participated in rehearsals with the entire group the day before the performance.
The Delaware Children’s Honor Choir is a program of the American Choral Director’s Association, designed to showcase exceptional choral students in grades 4–6 in each state. Choir directors in each school audition their students and recommend their best musicians for the experience.
The concert and rehearsals were held in Newark High School in Newark, Delaware. The ensemble performed the following pieces: Snow by Morning – Poem by May Swenson, Music by Joshua Shank Sound the Trumpet – Arranged by Russell Robinson Will There Really Be A "Morning"? – Craig Hella Johnson No Time – Arranged by Susan Brumfield Dreams – Text by Langston Hughes, Music by Rollo A.
