Sanford Athletes Receive Post Season Honors

Sanford's winter student-athletes earned a myriad of post-season awards and recognitions.
In addition to being named to All-State, All-Star, and All-Conference teams, Warrior athletes were also selected for sportsmanship and academic honors.

Our girls' basketball team won the Delaware Independent School Conference (DISC) title and received the following All-Conference honors:
1st Team: Lauren Park, Olivia Tucker, Allie Kubek
2nd Team: Samantha Pollich
Honorable Mention: Kendra Warren
Sanford's All-State honorees were Lauren Park (1st Team), Olivia Tucker (2nd Team), and Samantha Pollich (Honorable Mention).

The boys' basketball team, which won the DISC championship, received the following All-Conference recognition:
1st Team: Jyare Davis, Marcus McCollum
2nd Team: Corey Perkins, Connor Rufo
Honorable Mention: Ryan McKeon
Jyare Davis was selected as a 1st-Team All-State honoree, and Marcus McCollum was chosen for the Senior Blue/Gold All-Star game.

Our DISC-championship wrestlers received the following conference recognition:
1st-place Conference Champion and 1st-Team All-Conference: Cassidy Chas, Trent Wall, Jason Lamey, Kyle McDonough, Luke McDonough, Timmy Griffith, Andrew Brooks, Asher Tingle
2nd Place and 2nd-Team All-Conference: Spencer Green
3rd Place and 3rd-Team All-Conference: Jonathan Bracho
In the DIAA Dual Team Wrestling Championships, the Warriors were the #4 seed and lost in the first round.
In the DIAA Individual State Championship: Timmy Griffith was the 152-lb state champion; Luke McDonough was the 145-lb state runner-up; Kyle McDonough earned 3rd place in the 132-lb weight class; Andrew Brooks won a 4th-place spot on the podium in the 160-lb division; and Trent Wall, in the 120-lb weight class, won 6th-place honors.
Asher Tingle and Spencer Green also qualified for state competition.

3rd Team:Kyle McDonough
Our DWA Academic All-state award recipients are:
1st Team: Trent Wall
2nd Team: Spencer Green, Timmy Griffith, and Brendan Lamey
Honorable Mention: Kyle McDonough, Andie Garcia, and Abby Klassman.

In swimming, Bella Warner was was named Delaware Swimmer of the Year after winning the state title in the 200 Free and 500 Free events. Bella was also named a 1st-Team All-State swimmer. Other swimming honors included:

Participants in the state swim meet qualifiers were: Lindsay Colgan, Katie Correll, Bella Warner, Ali Cornwall, Paige Bobka, Maggie Bobka, Angela Kuczykowski, Annie Christopher, Gabi Hunt, Bri Kung, Ava Lafferty, Aaron Lafferty, Jacob Lafferty, Ethan Citro, Connor Long, Martin Hunt, James Lin, Bass Conde.
The girls' swimming team placed 10th in state.
The consolation finals results were:
Girls' 400 Free Relay – 7th overall
Girls' 200 Free Relay – 9th overall
Girls' 200 Medley Relay – 12th overall
Girls' 100 Free – Angela Kuczykowski, 15th overall
Boys' 200 Free - Aaron Lafferty, 15th overall
Boys' 200 Ind. Medley – Jacob Lafferty, 16th overall
Boys 200 Free Relay – 15th overall (J. Lafferty, A. Lafferty, E. Citro, C. Long)
Sanford's All-State Banquet Team MVPs were Angela Kuczykowski and Connor Long.
