College Counseling Center Moving to Quigley Hall

Big changes are coming to the Sanford campus this summer including the College Counseling Center’s move from Stephen May to a newly renovated Quigley Hall.
This change of location helps to support Sanford’s expansion, needed to accommodate its growing enrollment. Commenting on the changes coming to Sanford, Head of Upper School Lynn Casto remarked, “Due to the growth in the upper school student population, we have hired two additional faculty members to be housed in Stephen May for the 2017–2018 school year. A growing faculty requires additional classroom spaces. In order to keep departments together for collaboration, the College Counseling Office and the College Counseling Center will move to Quigley with some of the senior lockers.” Casto also noted that as the senior class uses the College Counseling Center very frequently as go they through the college admissions process, they felt it was important to keep the seniors close to the center. In regard to the additional improvements being made to Quigley, Casto added, “a teleconferencing space is planned for the second floor of Quigley allowing Sanford students to Skype with admissions representatives and participate in virtual tours with colleges. With the Quigley renovation, the front of the building where College Counseling and an additional classroom will be housed will be connected by the main staircase and upper hallway to the Warrior Cafe.” Casto said that she is excited for this change and the improvement in college counseling it offers Sanford’s students.

By the start of the 2017–2018 school year, Quigley will be open for college counseling business, including hosting the individual office spaces of Sanford’s two college counselors, Casey Zimmer and John Ramsey. Concerning the move and its impact on Sanford’s college counseling program, Casey Zimmer said, “Many students know that Mr. Ramsey and I have needed to use "satellite offices" in various parts of Stephen May when we both have appointments scheduled at the same time. Our new space will allow us that extra space in one, centralized location. It will allow us to minimize our moving about campus too much while drawing an even wider range of students through our offices.” Zimmer remarked that he and Ramsey are excited to be a part of the reimplementation of Quigley.

These exciting changes to Quigley Hall will allow Sanford to continue and expand on the excellent college counseling services for which they have come to be known.
