Delegates Selected for 2016 HOBY Leadership Workshops

Sanford has selected three upper school students to take part in the annual HOBY State Leadership Seminars for Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Paige Bobka will attend the Pennsylvania HOBY workshop at Villanova University, and Sarah Filak and Ananya Singh will attend the Delaware workshop at Wesley College in Dover. The Leadership Seminars are “designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community,” according to HOBY.

HOBY, which stands for “Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership,” was founded by the actor Hugh O’Brien in 1958 in order to inspire a “global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.” The programs include the State Seminars and a “World Leadership Congress” with ambassadors from across the globe. To date, HOBY boasts more than 375,000 alumni worldwide.

Our students' participation in HOBY is supported by the Hockessin Women's Club and the Sanford counseling department.

Congratulations to Paige, Sarah, and Ananya!
