33 Sanford School Students Earn AP Scholar Recognition
Thirty-three Sanford students have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on college level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams.
Two students were named National AP Scholars, receiving an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more exams. The National AP Scholars are Philip Charles and Max Curschmann. Both students also received AP Scholar with Distinction honors.
Eleven Sanford students (along with the National AP Scholars listed above) received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more exams. The students are: Evan Carswell, Laura Davies, Garrett Jester, Alexander Kuczykowski, Justin McLellan, Haris Nashed, Julia Pelesko, Ana Sarmousakis, Nicole Sikora, Alexandra Somerville, and Shiyun Tang.
Eight students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams. The students are: Paige Amendum, Liren Chen, Caroline Cook, Eliza Hering, Mesha Mosley, Rachel Rice, Kimmie Riordan, and Matt Rosenthal.
Twelve students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. The AP Scholars are: Andrew Beer, Alina Caulfield, Olivia Civiletti, Sheyi Edeki, Ryan Friedman, Mary Kathryn Grubbs, Ryan Mountain, Ellie Papoutsakis, Sara Shelton, Jacob Walsh, and Marcus Whipple.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college–level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. The exams are administered in May of each year.
