Sanford School Named to AP Honor Roll Platinum Status

Sanford School has earned Platinum status on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, recognizing our commitment to college readiness, opportunity, and academic challenge.
Sanford School is proud to be recognized on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, earning Platinum distinction. The AP School Honor Roll celebrates schools whose Advanced Placement programs are delivering strong outcomes for students while also expanding access to rigorous coursework. Schools receive this recognition annually based on measures that reflect a thriving college-going culture, opportunities for students to earn college credit, and preparation for long-term academic success.

As Trevor Packer, head of the AP Program, shared, “AP gives students opportunity to engage with college-level work, earn college credit and placement, and build professional career skills they can use no matter what path they choose after high school,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “Congratulations to this year’s AP School Honor Roll recipients for proving it’s possible to expand participation in these rigorous courses and still drive strong performance.” Sanford’s Platinum recognition reflects that same commitment. We challenge students to think deeply, work at a higher level, and pursue opportunities that strengthen their readiness for college and beyond.

This honor also builds on an exceptional year of achievement for Sanford Upper School students. Earlier this fall, 59 students earned AP Scholar recognition for their outstanding performance on AP Exams. Across 275 exams, Sanford students achieved an impressive average score of 3.89, with 90% earning a score of 3 or higher and 56% earning a score of 4 or higher. The Class of 2025, with just 74 students, earned 50 of the 59 AP Scholar awards, demonstrating remarkable academic strength and consistency.

This year’s honorees include 20 AP Scholars (scoring 3 or higher on 3 or more exams), 15 AP Scholars with Honor (average score of 3.25 or higher on 4 or more exams), and 24 AP Scholars with Distinction (average score of 3.5 or higher on 5 or more exams). Together, these achievements reflect the dedication of Sanford students and the guidance of our faculty. Advanced coursework is both accessible and meaningful at Sanford, and students are supported as they strive toward ambitious academic goals.
