Welcome to Warrior Nation!

Exercise and activity are essential parts of Sanford’s well-rounded, liberal arts experience, as they have been since our founding. A strong athletic program involving all students enhances the quality of the education we provide and instills skills and abilities that can last a lifetime.

Interscholastic athletics for everyone (grades 7–12)

The Middle and Upper School Athletics programs ensure that all students in grades 7–12 participate in interscholastic, competitive athletics throughout the school year. Athletics thus take the place of physical education classes enjoyed up through sixth grade. Varied athletic opportunities emphasize participation, challenge and motivate students to do their best, and possibly further their interests in college.

  • College-prep for the serious athlete

Sanford is proud to field consistently strong teams in a variety of sports. At the varsity level, winning takes on a greater focus, and not everyone plays in every game. No matter what, the ethos of teamwork, integrity, and support is Sanford Strong.

Every year, a number of Sanford students commit to play the sports they love in college. We are proud to provide the preparative training and success they need to take that next step.
  • A Sport and a Team for Everyone

In middle school through junior varsity, there are no cuts, and everyone plays at a level that their ability permits. At these levels, all eligible players should play in each game. We are proud of all our Warrior athletes for stretching themselves to the best of their abilities.
