The Exceptionally Sanford Campaign

Since its founding in 1930 with just seven students, Sanford School has grown into a thriving community, providing an exceptional education for nearly 4,000 students over 95 years.

The Exceptionally Sanford Campaign is a bold initiative designed to strengthen Sanford School's future by making an impact across all three divisions. We invite you to be part of this legacy.

Campaign Goal & Progress

The Exceptionally Sanford Campaign continues to advance toward its $10.5 million goal, fueled by the generosity and belief of our community. Early support has already made a meaningful impact, strengthening the endowment and reimagining learning spaces across campus.
The renovated Math/Science Building now features modern labs and classrooms, a solar roof, a new patio for outdoor learning, a connecting bridge, refreshed community spaces, and upgraded flooring and lighting, creating an environment designed for collaboration and deeper learning.

Looking ahead, the campaign’s next priorities include completing the Lower School Addition, developing a Middle School Greenspace, and continuing endowment growth. Together, these initiatives will serve students from preschool through grade 12 and ensure that Sanford’s commitment to excellence remains strong for generations to come.
  • Lower School Addition Lower School Addition Lower School Addition
    We are in the final stretch of the Exceptionally Sanford Campaign, but our biggest project is still on the horizon. With your support, we plan to build a two-story addition that will expand the building's footprint, adding five classrooms and enlarging the nurse's office to better serve all 703 students. We plan to break ground in June 2026.

    • Middle School Improvements Middle School Improvements Middle School Improvements
      Wilson Hall and Town Hall were dorms until the 1980s when they were joined together to form Sanford's Middle School serving grades 5 to 8. Middle School renovations during the summer of 2025 have improved the learning environment and physical space for our 182 middle school students by providing updated air filtration, new carpets in the common areas, and updated science labs. A new greenspace adjacent to the Middle School is upcoming.

    • Upper School STEM Projects Upper School STEM Projects Upper School STEM Projects
      For over 50 years the Nancy C. Sawin Math/Science Building has served Sanford well.  Extensive renovations in 2024 and the summer of 2025 have brought new life to this building as well as to Pirnie Hall, creating flexible spaces and improved learning environments for our 296 upper school students. Project outcomes include an expansion of STEM courses, an increase in labs, and the incorporation of more active learning in math classrooms.

    • The Sanford Endowment The Sanford Endowment The Sanford Endowment
      The Sanford Endowment is a critical school asset. It is a collection of funds that is invested to generate yearly income, supplementing tuition and Sanford Fund revenue each year. Build your legacy at Sanford with an endowment gift, benefitting the school in perpetuity. Endowed funds include named award funds, financial aid and scholarship funds, operating funds, and an unrestricted fund.
